Auto Kickdown Adjustment

hi i have just had a 617 diesel put into my 280GE in which i have left the auto gearbox in place . the mechanic doing the job reckons its changing up gears too fast , is there a trick to setting the kickdown? 

any comments would be great

Hi Binx The modulator valve on the side of the gearbox is vacuum controlled via a multipoint fitting linked to the throttle mechanism on top of the rocker cover.... the engine shutoff and brake servo are linked to same vacuum supply..I have a 300GD automatic in the shop if your mechanic wants to take a look.....

HI Fixwin thanks for the offer i have the G back at home now and have had a good look around, the line for the vaccuum system seems good it has been suggested that the higher horsepower of the M110 was covering the fact the gearbox needs an oil change.
does this make any sense?
