Was speaking with a friend the other day who knows German cars / fuel injection systems inside out.

I had recently changed the fuel filter and noticed that the fuel pressure accumulator (it’s next to the fuel filter) was pretty corroded. So seemed a pretty good idea to change it before it failed.

He informs me you can replace it with an accumulator off any car fitted with Bosch K Jetronic (Merc, Audi, VW, BMW etc up to around late 80’s). Ones on the G apparently have extra vent pipes fitted, which may or may not be fitted to others. These are probably there to allow deep-water crossings. Make your own mind up if you require this.

It is to maintain a constant pressure in the fuel injection system.

And as such wouldnt have a vent pipe, it might however have a return.
