Electronic speedo fix
I'm trying to get my failed speedo working again. I've tested the hall effect sender or transdic=ucer on the end of the transfer case angled gear. It has battery voltage, a good earth and a changing voltage when the gear is turned (this is correct) on the 3 wires. This is correct I'm told for any hall effect sender. I had the cluster out an wiring all checks out. My guess is that the speedo in the dash has died. Can anyone help? I'm also told a late w124 car has electronic speedo. While the pod was out it seems the glow plug light has given up. Not sure if they are working or if it's just the bulb. Maybe battery is flat?

As your readings at the sender unit check out, do the same at the speedo end - do you get signals there, if not there could be a break in between that needs looking into.
You could have poor connections at the speedo socket, do make sure the socket connections are sound, if so the head could be faulty. I cannot comment or verify part being similar to the W124 without your chassis number.
Can't help you with Speedo fix, though if a Glow Plug has failed light would illuliminate after has engine has started, bulb only pennies to change and easy to check.
I recently had to replace my temp/fuel/oil pressure gauge on my 463. I sourced the correct gauge from a breaker in Germany specialising in G's. Guido Matthes sells via an ebay store "offroad-world", his email is ebay@industrytools.de . He also helped me out with a bumper end cap.
If you need to replace the gauge he is definitely worth a try.
I would probably buy a new part.
Yes there is power at the head. There is test document I found online with values to check on the connector when plugged into the head. Car needs to be driving or wheels off the ground to check.
Sorted the glow plug. I didnt have all the bulbs plugged in! Only works when plugged in.
