Am noticing some very slight blistering developing under the front windscreen  between the 2 winshield wipers. Is this a common issue? The car is coming up to 14 years old now and is not showing any other signs of rust development on the body.

Re: Blistering

you have more extreme winters than we have and I'd guess use more salt, my car is now over 20 years old and has no rust in this area, check out the bodywork warranty

Re: Blistering

Anyone else have the same or I am the only one ??? If it was a salt issue I would expect the back to be in worse shape than the front.

Re: Blistering

Blistering on W460 is more prevalent compared to W463 but not unknown on W463s'. The W463 were supposed to have galvanized panels but that is no guarantee. Areas from were G-Wagens live is relevant though; my observations shows vehicles from the sea and coastal areas are proned to rust and this tends to work its self largely from inside, out.

Re: Blistering

My 463 doesn't have any significant rust but I note the comments about 'rust warranty' - can anyone explain exactly what that is? Does it mean you need full MB service history? And how long it is valid for? I'd like to know in case I do get rust issues.

Cheers,

Huw

Re: Blistering

I had the same on my lwb 463..it's where they have nicked the paint work putting in screen..it's takes this long due to the rubber deteriorating over time allowing water ingress and rust to develop..albeit slowly..screen out and sort is only answer
