320 & 300
Anyone know if the 320 uses the 300 block? I'm almost ready to change my engine for something a bit more right-foot-friendly, and if Im going to go to all the trouble of making manifolds, etc, I can just as well fit the 320, if the sump fits.
If not, it will have to be a 606, with my 603 pump.
do you mean the 103 and 104 petrol engines? If you do then the 104 300-24v engine is the same bore and stroke as the 103, 3 litre engine, so theoretically the same block, with detail differences. If you are on about the taxi engine ignore this.
Regarding Diesels', the 300 is an in-line, six cylinder block; where, as the 320 is a V-6 block. So, in answer, the blocks are not the same.

the 300e and the 300 24v have an interchangeable block, with a good power increase too.
i thought you was going diesel....

The first 300 CDI engines where straight 6's, the new ones are V's.
Not to worry any more, I made my purchase, a 1998 300 TD with 35k miles and a full MB service history. I will also put a Myna pump on, so I will be a long way from 250 hp, a long way above!!!
Getting the car next week, but have to send the pump to Finland and wait for it to return before I am going to start any work.
Now I just need a new CV on the front anybody have a MB one lying around? I spoke to someone, but can't remember who.
