YouTube Rhova 4x4 - History of the G
Over the last 6 months I've been following a group of German lads rebuilding a G on YouTube. Very interesting. Rhova 4x4 if it's of interest to anyone.
You mean here. https://www.youtube.com/c/RHOVA/videos
They have a heck of a lot of followers!
Good stuff.
They are responsible for my G wagon acquisition. They have a lot to answer for
As they said in episode 1 - how hard can it be, right?
I am looking forwards to the expedition fittings when they get to that. I was thinking they should have used the space where one of the auxillary fuel tanks go for a water tank, but maybe they want to keep range and will strap water tanks to the sides.
They could have strengthened the roof while doing the body shell, but a roof tent comes with a base, so that would just be extra weight for no reason.
They will certainly add a winch, maybe 2, and a power invertor system, and an aux battery (always useful)..
I have seen far rustier g-wagens in Britain than this one

For sure, the Rhova one is not too bad. But to do a nuts and bolts restoration without prior G knowledge is brave! But they know their stuff and one is at MB which helps.
A thorough job as well
Should have invited them over to practise on mine.... took me 3 hours to undo 1 *front bumper bolt last weekend! [the other 3 just a mere 15 minutes :) ] The fun - was caught out as belived 19mm, yet actually 18 and location allowed no access other than via long socket!
*removed bumper and front skid plate to access radiator for removal and rebuild - cost £385 incl VAT at https://radiator-repair.co.uk/ . Looks great and happy with service, also fitted a thicker core then original (Behr). Whilst there also showed me G-fuel tank had in for repair. Just wait for global warming to kick in and test...
Well worth bumping this up, or even pinning it as a good background on the G.
Part 1 is the history of the 460
Part 2 is tracking the 461
Part 3 will be the 463
(Give it a month or so)
Take a visit and like their work.
Seems like life and/or work has got in the way of Part 3 - still waiting for it:
Their videos are delivered in English with such good humour, and they leave the bloopers in!
