Hello,

Lately I have a EDC light flashing situation which I cannot solve.
The only DTC code I got is P2BAD.
I've done a regen.already.
Instead of going into LIMP MODE, Gears change up at 3500 RPM.

I've resolved the folling DTCs in the past that casued the EDC light to flash.
P0404 - ERG valve was cleaned about 10k km ago.
P2453 - DPF pressure differential sensor was replaced about 40k km ago
The Oil temperature sensor was also replaced abotu 40k km ago.
Air intake filter and engine oil and filter were changed recently.

Appreciate any insight about the P2BAD.

Thank you.

Sounds like you have some DPF history here.  But what G is this for. Year?

Check this link out:

Prevention is better than cure. My suggestion is to adapt using good Diesel fuel Injector/System cleaner say every 4th Full tank full of fuel to keep the injector tips and consequentally any sensors and DPF cleaner. I endorse BG Products at the garage I volunteeer at and will not give you any sales pitch. The product is expensive but worth its value based on several on site before and after demonstartion we have had at the gargae by BG. Make your own mind up.

https://www.bgprod.com/

Have a look at the videos they have. Plenty of You Tube videos available to view.

Best results use engine oil flush, fuel injector clener on a Full Tank and optional but worth it an oil conditioner. The Oil Flush restores engine performance and improve fuel consumption, not to under state reduced exhaust emissions.

Thank you for the insight.
I'll give 244 or 245 a go. 245 is better, i guess.
I haven't changed the mass air flow sensor on my G300CDI yet. I did for a mate, which solved another fault code (cant remember what it was now).
Hope I don't have to remove the NOx sensors for cleaning.

Thanks.

we are talking about a Professional here, it is a detuned engine designed to deal with inferior fuels; I can not believe that the engine needs fuel additives; I would check all the wirings first; if this does not yield anything, a MB dealer should have a look, after all we are talking about an engine to be found in the Sprinter as well.

This fault can also flag up due to a clogged fuel filter. When was the last time you replaced the filter ?

YOM 2010 has not been changed.
Probably should replace for good measures.
No noticable fuel flow issues. In fact, the engine has to rev up to over 3000RPM before changing up.

Any additive(s) is to be used as a preventitive measure to avoid from possible faults occurring - it is not a cure. This suggestion was meant to be advise for that instance.

Sprinter engines, just as any diesel engines have as much DPF issues as any other - just ask fleet opertors. Additives in this instance avoids such issues or prolongs such issues from occurring.

RE: 3000 rpm rev to up shift gear could be a seperate issue with gear box, i.e. modulator on the gear box or related to the same valve, a vacuum leak from the engine or the modulator is self.

Found a crack in the duct after the MAF sensor. Patched it up. Ordered replacemennt A4620907937, will be getting it in about a month. Cleaned the ERG valve.

EDC light gone away. Has not come back after >200km.

Seems I need to clean the EGR valve every 10k km as I do my oil change.

I have had failed MAF sensors on E350 and C240 MB engines.  At about this age.  Sure if it is dragging in air through a crack its going to show as faulty.

Not sure about the cloggy EGR. I guess getting it cleaned with an oil change is a simple thing to ask/do.  Good news.

Patching up the duct did not help with the blinking EDC light, therefore I thought I'll clean the EGR valve anyway. Only then, the blinking EDC light stopped coming back.

Follow up post after 2 months.

Cleaning the EGR valve is confirmed to be the solution.

Thanks

Out of interest,  do you ever really cane it in an effort to stop it getting clogged up? Was there excessive smoke as well?

May be the urban dfriving. Can't avoid urban dirving in Hong Kong.
Emission is okay so smoke should not be an issue. In HK, MOT for diesel vehicles are done by the Government test centre and is stringent.

By the way, the P2BAD still lingers but the flashing EDC has gone.
