turbo for 617 engine
Anyone know were or what model turbo they are on om617 I have the manifold just need a turbo I think its a Garret t3 Thanks
A OM617a or an aftermarket one?
I have both an STT and a TB 617 kit. They are both very similar turbos and are more like a T2 running only 5-6 psi. They both have removed the Garret plates so no way to give exact spec but inlet on one is stamped 461, M27 raised letters and has 42 on inside of outlet.. plus 413516 .. 92 (1992 is my guess).
I have a T28 (hydrid of T2/T3) on another car .. so sure it is no T3.

Hi According to turbo data that I have K24-2 code 53249736701 is applicable to the 617A in the 300SD saloon ...OEM number is 0020969899 this was fitted in 1985 built engines ..
the code for 1986 built engines 53249736702 OEM 0030963299.... go to www.dieselevante for further data ......
Garrett model TAO 301 P/n 465228=0003 OEM 0010966499 for OM 617A engines
Look at the manifold... STT has STT Sweden cast into it and puts the turbo forward so it interferes with the snorkel on the alternator..
TB has TB300 is cast onto underside below turbo on the other manifold but pulls turbo back so it missing the alternator (but wastegate hits the engine mount instead). Pick your conflicting space!
Spotted the stt on the link you sent but thats not on my manifold to dark to see underneth at the mow the turbo mounts further back on the non factory manifold will have a look in morrow cheers

the last turbo diesel we had in was fitted with a turbo off a Peugeot 405 as supplied by TB Turbos Lancaster...
Cheers for that Fixwin its taken me nine months to find time to rip the manifold off and it is a tb manifold and the turbo is goosed, so your info regarding the 405 turbo is very usefull Thanks you all,

Thanks for the info guys the manifold is a genuine merc lump but my other 617 has what I think is a aftermarket turbo fitted ? thanks again
