Squirrel chewed my wiring - again
A couple of years, back, I reported that a squirrel, or a rat, had chewed the wiring running under a G350 Bluetec, resulting in no ECL but limp mode, not turbo, no reving over about 2.2k rpm
Well the little buggers have been back (I think) and I have the same problem.
Hopeful that the wiring can again be repaired, and THIS time will be shielded from the little bastards. Even a liberal coating of grease should do it.
I couldn't find the original post, hence reporting it again. Anyone else had this? Maybe less likely on a 460 (less wiring).
I had it on my 1994 463 under the hood. They took a liking to my HT leads. Apparently the insulation of most car wiring is now soy based - and vermin see that as a food.
I got some oil of peppermint and spray around engine bay every now and then as they're not supposed to like that.
So far so good.

The ECL light came on the next day and the engine would barely rev at all. Eased as it warmed up but sounded muffled and rough.
Well, my OBDII reader (Torque and a cheap Bluetooth OBDII plug) is not working... cannot connect to the ECU to read the fault.
So I put it back to the garage to re-check the wiring, although I could see nothing. Of course, driving it there the following day it worked fine with full power again.
Garage must have read the fault and decided to remove, clean and re-fit the EGR. Cleared the fault and now it is time to see if it recurrs.
I have to say the car is smoother. The exhaust sounds better. I am just wondering why the EGR clogged up?
I do regular long trips, high speed. So I wasn't expecting a clogged EGR. The only thing I can think is that it was about 15k since the last oil/filter change - maybe it was just getting too dirty. It's important to do oil changes regularly (and wow, the right oil is expensive)
