My front passenger side bottom shock mount has just given up on me. It's sheared off competently. how does one go about fixing this? Can you replace the damaged area and how do you get hold of a new mount? Also now need a new pair of front shockers! Any info much appreciated.

Re: Shock mount

Hi Big T

Can you move the shock or has it seized??. Ive never seen a mount snap off unless the shock is seizing up, or its got no damping effect at all and is acting like a slide hammer fracturing metal

You could clean it up and get a decent welder to repair it. If they are good you wont have any issues again. I have my own plan of how i would repair it but im not there lol

There are posts on shock absorbers 100 times over. I have fitted a cheap set of kyb shocks to mine and it has done 3 years on them and pretty extreme long off road days with no issues

Go for the premium ones as i cant vouch for the budget ones. At 3 times cheaper than others and 3 years still fine i will stick to these. Other people will say different but if i can do 9 years worth of shocks for the same price as a merc one i think thats ok. They have done 20000 miles so far

Re: Shock mount

That's a new one, normally it's the back mounts giving way? I think you can get lower mount repair section from MB, but it maybe a NLA part and most likely need to come from Germany, tho easy to fabricate this. Look on German eBay for good deals on shocks, Sachs original equipment
