Re: Shock Absorbers

Don't know MB part numbers but assume on a 500 they are Bilsteins?

Bilstein B6 easily available from Demon Tweets, Larkspeed etc and cheaper

Re: Shock Absorbers

The 500's often ran factory AMG version shocks

No more expensive than the standard MB shocks

Bilstein B6 are a very good alternative as stated

Post VIN.. even just last 5 digits and I can put part numbers up

If you ring round a few dealers they will all potentially offer different discounts,  easy now you have the part numbers?

Are yours shot?

Re: Shock Absorbers

Hi Jason,

I'll have a call around my local dealers,

I had an advisory on my MOT about the shocks and wanted to get an idea of replacement costs.

Re: Shock Absorbers

Readily available from MB Germany

A tempting £408......

Unfortunatly each so £1632 a set of four

A nice set of Bilstein B6 at circa £650/700 a set from Autodoc or similar would be a better choice!

Re: Shock Absorbers

With a bit of searching you can some good deals on Bilsteins from Germany,  or you could still buy Koni Raid shocks for half the price of OE stuff and far superior ( only my opinion)

Re: Shock Absorbers

Dear All,

Just wondering if the later shock absorbers from the G550 would fit on my 1999 G500 R/H drive

Take care

I'm sure they would (Shock absorbers). Same fittings. If you have access to those second hand. Or just buy and fit those Bilstein or Koni ones new.

Re: Shock Absorbers

They will fit OK

But later G53AMG type

Much stffer and hardher ride

People often go the other way anf replace these to soften the ride

Personally would not and if you do would go for all 4 rather tha just rear to balance it up
