Good Morning

I am a new member of the GWOA having recently purchased a 1987 300GD W460 that i am refurbishing. i am having difficulty sourcing a few parts, currently a heater resistor, fuel tank, interior lock button and exterior rear nearside protective strip (part number A460 690 12 62). Any help would be very much appreciated

Many Thanks

Bill

Welcome.  The hardest and most expensive item will be the fuel tank.  Original metal are rare and replacement plastic are quite expensive.  But they do come up.

All the other parts would just be worth getting from MB.

The resistor is just a coil of metal - there are some second hand but again a new one should be possible, from MB or from Bosch or (I forget the manu - Heim??)

Here's a resource and this might be the rubber strip you need:

Many Thanks. in all fairness the heater resistor maybe ok, the motor on the heeater had packed up and was just going to change the resistor while it was all out Like you said, i think the tank will be the most difficult to source.

Thanks for the link i will have a look on there.

Hello Bill,

The metal tank was replaced with a plastic conversion, very expensive but it is possible to have your metal tank refurbished:

https://radiator-repair.co.uk/repair-workshop/fuel-tanks-lp/?

https://www.fueltanks.co.uk

https://radiator-repair.co.uk/classic-and-vintage-fuel-tank/

Above is a small sample of possible places to approach.

You may want to try Caversham Garage/ G:Wagen for the lock button - I think you are looking for the Red rectangular type button.

Generally parts will be difficult to obtain now, you may want to try the Mercedes Benz Classic car division in Germay for some parts but I think this is unlikely. There are suppliers in America for some parts but they do charge a premium for the rareity of parts plus delivery and time is quite lengthy.
