OM 612 in a Sprinter 616
Although I own 2 diesel Gs can I ask a question not related to either of them?
What year was the Sprinter 616 introduced with the OM612 engine and which year was Euro 4 ?
John
Hello John,
The Sprinter 616 with an OM612 engine was introduced in the year 2000 and seized in 2006.
The Euro 4 came in January, 2005. Current Sprinter range is on Euro VI specs.
The Mercedes-Benz OM612 engine is a straight-5 diesel engine produced by Mercedes-Benz.
It was introduced in 1999 for the 2000 model year in a 170 PS (125 kW; 168 hp) version in the W210 E-Class and W163 ML-Class, and in the W203 C-Class in 2000.
A detuned version with 156 PS (115 kW; 154 hp) were used in the W90x Sprinter from 2000 to 2006.

Worth checking on weights.
Dates may be different over 3500Kg, and then it's Euro iv rather then Euro 4. Or that maybe over 7500Kg. I don't know, it's too confusing. lol
Gav will know.
I doubt it.
Still fairly sure at over 3.5 tonnes its Euro lV, and for what it's worth not allowed in LEZ since 2012.
But then you see 616 classed as Euro 3 rather then Euro lll. Confusing
Hi

You have email...
Looks like a Motor Home maybe....?
OM612.981 5 Cylinder and 722.681 5 Speed Auto...
Sold to the Panhard Body Works in France...?
Sounds interesting.....
You guys are amazing. Thank you very much. So a 2004 616 sprinter chassis will almost certainly NOT be EURO 4. That is what I wanted to know.
