Odo has died
My 1994 G300 petrol has manifested yet another annoying fault!
The odo has stopped working. Speedo still works though.
It's with the garage at the moment and the chap has just called to say the drive is electronic not cable. Seems to think some transducer has died??
Every day is a day at school.
Any ideas please or does anyone know who may have some spares?
MB have nothing apparently.
Many thanks
I found a wiring diagram for the 300GD and the electrics to the tachigragh.

I can't see what sensor/transducer is driving the current, but if the speedo is working surely that means signal is getting to the tachy. So it could be a bust connection in the unit itself.
Are you sure its electric? Easy to spot the speedo cable from the transfer box, drivers side?
My odometer also packed up, one of the tiny little plastic gears stripped, took it to Speedograph for repair, as alternative was new speedo head from MB helpfully the speedo has part number on the front? Always reset tripmeter when stationary.
I presume odometer is not digital?
A quick search on ebay.de reveals they sell the problem cog?
Who did you try for repair? Was a good place in London used to Classic Car repairs, alternative use a sat nav as a speedo whilst you get it repaired.?
Speedy Cables London
Thanks chaps.
I am inclined to agree it's more mechanical, like a knackered cog of some sort.
