new owner of w460
Based in north yorkshire, life long cyclist finally got a driving licence after 33 years and it's only taken me 6 months to realise the gelandewagen is for me. I put my deposit down yesterday and collect it Tuesday morning just in time for Christmas, 1987 grey w460 swb with diesel om606 conversion from dieselpumpuk based locally. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions so happy to be part of the forum which seems to have a great wealth of knowledge! tom.
You can put your bike in the back too or several if you hang a rack over the spare wheel, welcome and happy motoring
Hi Welcome You will have to keep us posted about the work
deiselpumpuk have done and how it drives eg reliability and mpg
Hi Tom
this is the one with 260 bhp and 8mm elements in the diesel pump isn't it.

thanks tony, luke had I think some optimistic figures on mpg with the om606 and if he's right I'll be very happy but I'll let you know next week when I've gone through 90litres
other thing was car alarms- any recommendations?
I fitted a Clifford which is also an immobiliser, remote start, and central locking. Important to get it fitted by someone who knows what they're doing else a world of pain will descend.....

I agree with that. Mine has a dealer fitted Scorpion (don't think they exist anymore) and it looks like a bunch of chimps have had a go at crochet, given up and shoved their attempt behind the dash.
I have a contact in Blackpool, he's installed 3 clifford cat one alarms for me, mine has remote locking on the fob.
You'll enjoy the 606 engine. But you'll probably wish it had higher gearing, the std gearing is 3800 revs at 70. It will be very lively though.

yes, I've been looking at tow bar racks which seem pretty good, short term work is a new steering wheel as the rubber is gone, new door window seals, blank tyre cover (current one has a very large logo) fix the sagging roof lining and some general future rust proofing, tidy up. long term maybe new seats? we'll see
