just bought second g yesterday. Sold the 1985 230 ge manual red and upgraded to silver 1993 300 GDS manual
problem straight away with alternator if anyone know if they can be reconditioned or whether I need to buy new?
I'm in birmingham.
It may be something simple like the voltage regulator or requiring a new set of brushes. I would first take it to an auto electrician for overhaul. They are so simple internally, that there is not much to go wrong. You can get a new one, but an original with the snorkell will be costly.
I'd second what Arnie says. Hold on to the original G alternator as it has the snorkel. Readily reconditioned
Have you checked the output voltage? How do you know that there is a fault?
