Hello GWOA,

I'm a new member from Italy, my name is Mario. I'm actually looking for a used W461 to be transformed into an expedition vehicle.
I found this forum a very useful resource, I have lot's of things to learn!

Greetings to all of you.

Mario

Re: New to GWOA

Greetings Mario, welcome to the madhouse!

You'll find plenty of 461 professional models on mobile.de    The German/Austrian market is full of these models, as the local authority use them, so you'll definitely find the type you want, in LHD too.

I'm already watching a few for when I win the lotto!

is vehicle tax an issue in Italy; I recall seeing a mint ge200 in Rome a decade or so back, it was beige and looked like a w460 but was in perfect order so it could have been a w461

Hello and welcome to the GWOA, W461s' are extremely rare here in the UK. You would have better luck seeking for one on the main European continent.

The rare one existing here would be largely RHD if for sale. Because of their rareity, I expect them to be dear in price.

Re: New to GWOA

Thanks all for your answer and information.

I fully agree that our poor and lousy tax system in Italy hit very hard who own fairly large or expensive vehicle and actually most SUV or fairly luxury vehicles are disappeared.

Very few G-Wagen of any kind here. People prefer modern car's like BMW and Audi or other Mercedes series.

I actually own a beautiful Land Rover Defender 110 fully equipped for long range travel. I love it but well... it's very uncomfortable. This is the main reason why I'm now looking at a G-Wagen 461 series.

About where I live, my HQ is close to the city of Genoa, north west Italy. Plenty of offroad tracks and beautiful spots not so far from where I live, especially on the Alps near the French border.

One time a year, usually in summer, I made a journey to foreign country with my wife and 8yo daughter.

Two years ago we reach south of Morocco, not so far from Mauritania border. Last summer we cross the Balkans country, then Turkey till Ararat mountain. After that, we cross the Iranian border and we drove till central Iran. Hopefully, next summer,  we will try to made a trip to Iceland with the G-Wagen if I will find a suitable model.

I'm actually searching in the Germany market, some interesting model found. Keeping finger crossed hoping to find something interesting and not too expensive.

Greetings to all of you!
