Hi

Just purchased the G500 from Jonathan at Avantgarde Cars.

Previous owner was Jay Kay from Jamiroquai.

There are a lot of aftermarket things on the vehicle and it comes with 6 remote controls for head units and all sorts !!

Does anyone know where I can buy rubber floor mats tailored to this particular model?

Nice G, can you tell us about the sound system?

have you got the standard carpet mats in the front and rear? You can get any old set of rubber mats and trim them to shape if only for occasional use

Re: New G500 owner

Lovley truck and a great previous owner! Raced that G down the M40 an a few occasions and had a chat with JK in the pub a few times.

The 500 usually came with the carpet mats with the V8 logo on the corner as well as the single rear mat.

Re: New G500 owner

Well done, a lovely looking car, I did see it advertised, you should get years of fun with it, mine has done twice the mileage of yours and with no major issues according to the file I have and as I got mine from the original owner I have a very detailed file, there seems to be plenty of interest on the petrol cars at the moment with myself being a new owner as well.

I asked on this forum about the multi function steering wheel which according to the advert for the car you have purchased the vendor has described it as a later model car, i.e..a 2000 model year, mine is a earlier registered car than yours as a 1999T but still has the multi function steering wheel which is useful as the radio is in a out of the way place to adjust  safely when on the hurry up,which these 500,s do so well at!

Are you the second owner, or has changed hands prior to you having it?

Your wheels look just fine as they are!

Re: New G500 owner

Thank you guys

The vehicle comes with an immense amount of service history. Jay Kay / his team have spent loads on the vehicle from new complete exhaust systems to bumpers etc

The car is a 1999 regestered 2000.

I am the second owner. He bought new in november 1999 and now me in 2015 so its been in his hands for 15+ years.

I have all mots and tax docs

His has changed the audio system to suit his taste.

I have the invoice and wiring diagrams for The audio system; was fitted november 1999 about 2 weeks after buying the vehicle at a cost of just under £10,000 !!!!! now worth £50!!!

These include:

1. Discrete tape player fitted onto drivers door

2. Sony control unit discreetly fitted near cigarette lighter

3. alpine folding head unit with sat nav, aux 1, aux 2 and radio. This only runs on the drivers windscreen speaker (for sat nav)

4. 6 mini disc changer

5. 10 CD changer

6. VHS player (with James Bond Tunderball inside!)

7. Navi system

8. Sony amp in rear

9. Sony rear screen on both head rests

10. Playstation input by high/low range gearbox, aux in, aux out, r aux in l aux in r aux out l aux out

11. pioneer DVD player in box concealed by rear transmission tunnel

12. Sony control unit for all the systems by drivers seat belt clip

13, another Sony speaker receiver or something like that on my drivers sun visor

14. very large speakers fitted under both front and rear seats

15. 6 remote controls including one for the auxiliary heater

16. head phone jacks , volume control and aux 1, 2,3, and 4 by passenger window switches.

17 master control switch on dash to turn on complete system

Everything is professionally fitted.

I have a drawing by Jay kay showing what he wants in the car and HE states : """EVERYTHING MUST BE RATTLE FREE""""

the system was fitted by Audio Design in Kingston -upon-Thames. Spoke with them and they dont do car audio anymore.

I got the amp working (loose connection) and the everything works  !!!!

There also seems to be a power supply for a sub.

The inside of the car is pimped but a little dated. I need a hard drive / SD card / Ipod unit maybe to replace the Mini Disc unit.

I have tried to post pics but not working at the moment

Yes, don't do it. Do you want a G-Wagen or a Bling-Wagen? Too much unsprung mass for rubber bands. Also, G-Wheels are rated for 1000 kg load each, and many aftermarket wheel are cheap castings that will crack at the first pot-hole, and probably require spacers and hub-centric rings to fit. I actually went from 18" to 16". Stay original, AMG or Brabus.

Anyway, very nice G-wagen and welcome to the club.

no disrespect  but i have 10x16 crazy offset landrover rims with landrover to G spacers, crazy setup but it suits the cabrio monsteri own. so i am familiar with messing about with G rims.... but with this G500 i would stay orignal to the theme.

wink

Re: New G500 owner

Lovely car that... Saw it for sale at Avantgarde.. I thought the price was not too bad given his usual pricing strategy.

Jay K even installed a complete Audio/DVD System in his W100 -600..

Enjoy the car!
