My first G and possibly the youngest in this club
Hi all, bought my first G about a couple of months ago after years and years wanting one.....and many lonely nights looking on Autotrader. After searching the length and breadth of the country I finally saw the one I wanted. So I purchased a 1993 G300 LWB and haven't looked back since! I'm 24 so may well be the youngest here but I don't use it for everyday driving. I live in Manchester city centre so its great for driving to the front of the queues and pushing in (yeah...I'm that guy!). When you live in the city, its dog eat dog. Anyway, that is my introduction and I hope to hear from some of you soon.
Welcome Andy. Well done for scratching the itch. I bet you look proper gangster up there! Plenty of good advice (and arguments) here. Good luck with it.
Hello and Welcome Andy
I Think at 24 you have been ONE of the youngest (For those who remember Pok and the Recently engage Tommy C) But Great news and I bet your mates are well envious! Get some picks up as soon as you can. As Scouse G mentioned quite a growing clan 'oppp North' . Gordon is/was the local rep, you have the chairman and of course the stalwarts of the club, Jason GDS, Gav Helme to name just a few.
Hope you enjoy the G and look forward to your posts and questions.

welcome andy
i to was lucky enough to buy my G in my 20s
but alas that was 26 years ago now im an old fart
and it is the only car i have owned since
but if you take care of your G it should be the last
time you have to go to a car dealer
so hopefully your 1st G and your last
take good care of it keep it clean underneath and use original
parts then it will last you out

Welcome, Andy!
I can completely relate to traffic, living in Japan as I do. Many of the local roads (paved, no less) are barely wide enough for my Alfa so it becomes a mess trying to get past oncoming cars. But now with the G they tend to pull over as far as they can so I don't put a couple of tire marks on their fender as I crawl over. ;-)
It sounds like I'm the youngest in the group, I'm 21 but have had my G since I was 20. i use it for everyday use as well as off-roading events.
Watch out for the low car parks and barriers.. 6'8" is the absolute min on a level pavement, with the sunroof closed.
93 diesel. Great G
Welcome to the club, really is one of the better ones, a wealth of information in some of the past topics. I'm one of the younger ones up north too, 23 and from Leeds, sold my 280ge now but searching for a G55 at the minute.
Manchester get together sounds good, lets get something arranged!
Well, you'll likely only find fingers in your spare tire since they've become civilized lately and it's the mark they still use for the extreme ones. The thing to watch for is the monster Mulkade centipedes. Now those things are no joke and might carry you away! ha.
Thanks for all of your responses, I appreciate it a lot. I'm still trying to navigate my way round this forum so if I end up writing something completely random on the wrong thread, just ignore me :).
I've only ever driven small hatchbacks, so driving the G from London back up to the north was certainly a new experience for me! And when I finally managed to get back to Manchester I had taken the wrong turn down a road, so stupidly did a U-turn (not realising it has the turning circle of a small cruise liner) and nearly went straight into a taxi! Luckily I haven't made that mistake again.
When I am next off from work I shall take some photos and I'll show you the perils of owning a G in a city centre. It goes along the lines of.......NCP multi-storey car parks + ridiculously large G = some rowdy drivers stuck behind you! Lol.
