Just tried Adrian Flux ( on phone , having recieved no reply to e- mail request )
Quoted £400.00 I say again £400.00 for self only leisure use (3000 miles ) & 2 other fully insured veh ( one for each of us )£ 1000 value , 3rdP,F&T all for a 1984 300GD SWB.
To put this in perspective I have last week insured 1989 300GD LWB in wifes name , me as named driver fully comp £5000,00 value , class 1 bizz for both of us , protected bonus , legal assistence , the works , oh and Denise has not had ins in her own name for some years ( being named driver on mine ) ,through local broker , insurance by HSBC
All for £640.00 being allowed 50% discount and entitled to addl 10% next year.
So , so much for specialist brokers ,
And £400.00 quote did alledgely incl for 15% club discount!!!
Digruntled,
Marcus

Try roadsure or morethan, I found them very competitive, for comparison I have my 89 300GD comprehensively insured for £360 with 1 years NCB and I am 33 with a foreign license. This is with morethan.
Hope this helps

thanks all , though some may be unaware that a lot of companies do not provide cover for N. Ireland and those that do load the preimums
did I say somewhere that only those with user name beginning with "R" should reply?
Anyway thanks again for the recommendations , will follow up , though time spent & ph bill may outweigh saving on preimium!

I would recommend Harvey Pettitt & Company (sorry don't have number at hand) especially if you do a lot of travelling outside the UK. Speak to someone called Martin Pettitt.

Was quoted £680 for a London based G 463 with the car value at £12k for fully comprehensive global coverage including breakdown assistance anywhere in the world (would like to try that one along the Silk Road) and that was with an international license (which basically doubles your insurance) and with 1 recent claim.

A friend had his brand new Defender (sorry) insured for £300 and something, based in London and for use abroad.

is N.I part of UK ?

Pettitt & Partners very apologic but do not offer cover for N.Ireland,
Think I will try and get "G" reclassified as an agri. tractor, should not have much difficulty in sticking to 50km/hr restriction so applying this was done in RoI a few years ago ( and successufully too , went to court courtesy of Revenue dept. farmer won his case ) , can then even use Red ( rebated ) diesel.Has too be too good to be true.

I'm amazed with these figures lads! We pay £186 with Adrian Flux, it must be where you live thats a problem. If you're car has no modifications try 'its4me.com', they gave me a good price prior to modding mine.
