Felt a bit of a fraud being on here for over a year without a G Wagon - but think I've learnt a lot reading almost every post since joining and have now taken the plunge and purchased my first G.

It's a 1994 300GES Petrol Automatic - the one I really wanted - in silver.

Hopefully I haven't made too much of a boo boo but it comes with lots of invoices done over the years including regular servicing and in particular:

A rebuilt automatic transmission including new torque converter done 18 month and 3,000 miles ago

A cylinder head regrind, new CH gasket, new valves and seats done 23,000 miles ago

A stainless steel exhaust fitted in 2010 which appears to still be in great condition

Rear springs fitted 2 years ago

A full 12 months MOT with no advisories

It's not perfect but seems to be a pretty honest example, original paintwork, and no rust to speak of.

Can't wait for Sunday when I can tax it without paying a month's fee just for 2 days use.

No doubt will be on here a lot in the future with pleas for help

Congratulations on a nice G. Looks original all over which is good. Paint the front bumper black and it will look new.

Looks very nice. Was it a good price?

Re: I finally bit the bullet

Well, it was less than half the price of that red one that's for sale at a dealer in Sheffield.

Mine doesn't have so many toys (no aircon, no cruise control, not leather seats) but I think it compares very well as regards paintwork and condition underneath.

"Was it a good price?" - ask me again in a month or so when I will have a much better idea of what needs doing (hopefully very little).

Thinking I'll probably dump the bull bars - wonder if they're worth anything?

Re: I finally bit the bullet

Congratulations Mark glad you finally found your G wagon.

Now the fun starts driving and buying parts to get the G

the way you want it. Just ask Scouse g I have already

got him up the wall with phone calls asking for advice,

and can you just help me with this if I pop round.

Oh by the way Graham thanks for your help.

Hi Mark,

whoop, whoop!!!! Well done and congrats on the new addition, I think you have taken your time, asked the questions and should have yourself a good G. With the back up of the GWOA , should the worst happens , for you £25 you have an excellent support network, both for advice and parts.

Looking forward to meeting you and your nice shinney new G!

Once again, many happy miles, and then the 500?

Re: I finally bit the bullet

Congrats, Mark!

Well, mine being the newest addition didn't last long in this forum. ha. I like that carpet in the cargo area. Trying to find out if MB had a cargo mat accessory for a SWB with no luck so far. Maybe I'll put in something like that too because it looks good and functional.

Re: I finally bit the bullet

Ah yes - well previous owner had a dog who liked his creature comforts.

The upside is that the G carpet underneath is pristine.
