Anyone have an idea what this high pitched sound from the engine when running is?

https://youtube.com/shorts/rtb3w4m5XC0

My guess is the alternator, but before I start tearing things apart, I'm hoping someone has already been there and can say, "That's a ____"

I doubt it is related, but I just finished refurbishing the K-Jetronic system, new injectors, fuel pump non-return valve, accumulator, o-rings pressure relief valve, thermostat, spark plugs, temperature sensor, all rubber hoses and replaced WUR with a digital UnwiredTools UTCIS.

Advice appreciated

You have given a hint of alternator, and hard to suggest otherwise!

Sounds metallic.  I think the only other alternative is the Water Pump... they are more prone to squeak than alternators.

You could try loosening the fan belt... if too tight, it can be pulling down on a spindle.  Or it might help isolate the source of the squeal.

Re: High pitched sound from running engine

I pulled the alternator and driving it back in the garage, no squeal, so I think its the bearings. I'll take it to town to be rebuilt. Says it was last rebuilt Feb 1990.

But I was amazed how hard it was to remove. Am I supposed to remove the radiator to get access? Anyone have instructions on reinstallation?
