Just added a forum topic and noticed I've been a member for over 10 years, that means I've owned my G for 10 years! Happy anniversary to us! And in that time gone from 79 on the road to only 33 (50 to 99 SORN). Now in those 10 years, what part have I (or a garage) not fettled with... gearbox is all I can think of, oh central locking (never worked, although many time been tempted to try and repair), must be something else... Anyway, still running fine (fine being a very subjective word, anyone who drives a 300G will appreciate the power:weight challenge!).

Only got another 40 years to go before can sell it on like fraj - great effort Sir!

Well done Stew!

Our Gs are lasting longer than we are!  There is still a lot to know and learn.

Re: Hey - 10 year anniversary!

For me, we got our 1987 230GE in 1991 (I think).  A steal at 6k from a builder who needed cash.

It was mostly trouble free until 2012 when it was hit by a tractor that took out the rear quarter.  Cosmetic but more damage than I could afford to repair at the time.  I SORNed it until 2018 when I saw a 1989 replacement.  So I let it go and did that.

3 Years later, the old 1987 was back on the market, fixed up and looking good.  So I was able to buy it back.

So that G, since 1991 is 30 years, minus 3 when it was 'being fixed'.   It would have been cheaper and more satisfying to have paid to have it done myself, but on the other hand, now I have 3 :(

Re: Hey - 10 year anniversary!

Hi, I bought my 86 cabriolet in 1987 from northside trucks, used it till 2000 then parked it in my garage till 2015, 2 friends had it started in an hour next day in for test passed no advisories,it has  gen. 55k miles but now because of lack of use I feel it is time to move it on to a GWOA member.regards Peter
