Evening/night all.

Just wanted to say a quick Hello form a new, and hopefully future G owner here in ireland.

Been poping in and out of here for a few years now and have always loved the german car culture and style.

have owned and rebuilt several vw and audi's over the years. and recently in the last 3 years have moved my attention towards the british classic mini, my girlfriend can be thanked for this venture....

anyway hopefull over the next few months i'll be able to source a G and enjoy and experiance what ye have when ye get your first G.

i'm after a 30+ year old (due to only weekend/surfing use can't justify the high tax of anything younger)

so looking for a W460, preferable a rolling project that don't have more tin worm than good metal.

want to add my own touches like 33'' tyres, om606 with 6 speed box, i'm fascinated my the factory like finish of axel's work on here. Amazing...

like i said the G will be a weekend worrier, used mainly for towing cars from A to B and the occasionally safari to the beach for surfing trips. if anyone has or knows of any i'd appreciate the heads up.

so just wanted to say a quick Hi,

and looking forward to be the next year as a GWOA member.

Danny

Re: Hello from ireland
Can you make it up to Donegal for the GWOA get together? I'll be there in my 460/606/6speed. So you could sample one first hand. There are a few other people very experienced in all things G so it would be a really useful trip for you Hope to see you there Regards Gordon

Re: Hello from ireland

hey Gordon,

I'll know by end of today if i can make it or not.. it's not looking like it to be honest.

was hoping to make it up, meet up with you guys and get a few hours in the water but

I'm on call this weekend and where I'm located it's not very feasible to drive up and down the same day..

I've been looking at your Facebook alright at your conversion.. very nice, exactly what I'm after eventually..

i'll be in touch if that's alright when i have a better understanding of the G's and of course when i have taken ownership of one.

Re: Hello from ireland
Keep an eye on my Facebook page I have several Gs which we are restoring and and converting to 606/6 speed which we will be selling when they're done. They're all 460s long and short wheelbase, which we' happy to configure to customers requests. The first one we're doing, a SWB is already pencilled in for a customer

Re: Hello from ireland

Will do Gordon,

Make sure you post loads of photo's :), i would be definitely interested if one isn't too far out of my budget.

i like the idea of collecting and driving it home while checking out the sights on the way back.

don't suppose you would like to PM me on what kind of guide prices you'd be looking at for one. I understand it would be different for each one but a rough idea would be great.. no worries if you can't.

Yes lots of photos on Facebook for sure I'll do a photo album of each one we do, I make no secret of pricing so there's no need to PM, they'll range from about £14000 for a SWB 606 turbo/6 speed 463 face lifted fully restored to around £19000 for a LWB with a few toys. They'll all have a ground up bare chassis restoration with all new body panels where required, with leather seats and new trim on the higher spec models. We also have an alloy wheel business so they'll come with a good choice of original G alloy wheels.

Re: Hello from ireland

Hello and welcome. Good luck with your pursuit of a new (old) G, some great knowledge over there in the Emerald Isle! Please start with reading some of the 'sticky' posts on buying advice, as there are some rouges out there who will swap your hard earned cash for a bucket of rust!

Following some of the simple advice pointers should see you straight! feel free to post ANY questions you may have, if its a RHD and a UK spec some one here may even know of it.

Once again Welcome

Spider1V
