I'm having a game getting sae 80 transmission oil for the transfer box..  is this correct?
The axles are sae 90, which isn't a problem, but I keep getting offered sae 80/90 which as the name suggests,  it covers both but I'm not sure how crucial the 80 is over 90..

Is there a modern alternative to the handbook,
But i wanted to get it right?   Can anyone advise please?

Its a good question.  At first glance, I wouild have thought the 80/90 is perfectly fine, but there is more to it.  I am sure you have googled a bit and this was the second hit: https://www.widman.biz/uploads/Transaxle_oil.pdf

So its about viscosity, temperature and additives.  We are lucky (!) in the UK that temperature extremes are rare, so it really comes down to the additives and almost all are a good thing, for modern gears!  But what about older cars?

I would just go with the SAE 80/90 or, if you find it the 75/85.

Interested what others think and know.

Don't think an issue if you get GL6 spec, for axles. Transfer box is 80, Morrises oil do a specific oil for the Transfer box
