Re: Fuel accumulator

They are sealed cans containing a spring and rubber diaphragm. Not serviceable.

If the diaphragm is perforated, fuel will just take route of least resistance which is straight back to the tank. You can test by plugging the return hose to the tank (on the back of the can). If you require a new one, just buy from your local MB dealer parts dept:

details and part numbers here

or buy from eBay:

(This one even has MB logo on the part number)

Re: Fuel accumulator

I cant quite make that out. Picture is a bit dark.

If the liquid feels oily, then it could either be hydraulic fluid for the rear diff-lock or leaking brake fluid from a rusty brake line. There's not really anything else at the rear of the vehicle.

The picture looks like it's showing part of a small coil-spring and actuation lever which resemble that of  the rear brake proportioning valve, in which case you have leaking brake fluid.

Check the brake fluid reservoir and mark a line where the present level is and watch for a day or two.
