Front Mud flaps
In an effort to get rid of the mud speed stripes appearing down the doors and mud encased steps I would like to fit mud flaps to the front of my 463 G300 SWB.
But I can't work out what they would fix to. There doesn't appear to be any kind of bracket in situ and it's not obvious (to me anyway) where such a bracket would fix, assuming that a bracket is needed and available.
Anyone know the answer please?
You can get that flexible plastic from Demon Tweeks etc aimed at the Rally Brigade, expensive for what it is but very light, you could cut to size and use self tapping screws on the plastic wheel arch liner?
Most of the mud flap kits I have seen for the front of G Wagons are designed to fit onto the side steps. The rear ones seem to be just a set of rubber flaps fitted with self tappers screwed into the wheel arch.

Rear ones have expensive brackets that eventually rust away, thought rear mud flaps a legal requirement? Front ones, sure Gav will correct me but not from factory for uk? The demon Tweeks stuff works ok but maybe doesn't look great
Not up on newer G's, maybe they modified them with something subtle moulded into the bumper? Wouldn't like to be following one on a rainy day!
they are available from Mercedes, code P47 (front) P48 (back); picture shows a 461 but if I'm not mistaken they could be ordered for the 463 as well.
I have rears on a 460 and yes.. the steel brackets have been rebuilt a few times. They look silly as they are set for non arched wheels as standard and I have never re-engineered the brackets out to match the wheels. A pain to remove/fit!
I have a set of MB fronts sitting on the shelf. I never did work out how the brackets fitted. I now have wheel arch liners and it gets even harder. So .. I do not know how they fitted.. and as the G has not moved in 2 years on the road as it has stopped snowing.. well other projects get in the way!
These from first picture. Where to get them?
My 463 had factory-fitted from mud-flaps, but I had to remove them to install the side-steps.They were attached to a bracket that clamps onto the longitudinal under-body, seam
Hi Mark
In case you are still looking for this, I bought a couple of years ago the front set which is described as follows:
MA463 880 03 22 SPLASH GUARD PRICE £32.21 EACH x 2
MA 463 880 0093 N/STOCK CLIP PRICE 25.13 EACH x 2
They are very easy to fit and you do not any side steps for this, as same are secured directly on the car body and can form a continuation of the wheel arch liner
Ah - does that mean that they were never designed to have front mud flaps?
