Re: Engine

The post has the photo of your truck over it so difficult to read, I too have a ge300 and about 6/7 years ago I had the head rebuilt, its a faily well know issue (if it is an issue) that the head gaskets go at around 150,000 miles but at the same time its also known as the last much longer the 2nd time round. the m103 6 cylinder is a very highly regarded motor, very smooth and given the weight of the truck quite fuel efficient. My swb gives me 19/20 mpg in mixed use but it is a manual, if you invest in a turbo diesel conversion, the om606a is recommended, you get a similar bhp but more torque than the petrol, enthusiasts claim up to 25mpg, however it will cost you £10k for the conversion, A rebuilt head at a specialist circa £1,500-2,000. If you chose the rebuild change the water pump at the same time.

It reads better on my Kindle, so my guess yours is a manual, if not ignore this, you'll need an auto box from a w124 300e, and a pedal box this ones on ebay

If you want more power out of your 300, you could go for a big valve head, this was the original Brabus modification, they also fitted the crank & pistons from a 3.2, expanding later to 3.4 then ulimately a 3.6, if you are having the head rebuilt anyway, why not?

Re: Engine

I tried to correct the profile picture. We had tried to support larger files but it should be 85 pixels dimension.  Even with that, I couldn't fix it, so I removed it!   Its in the post anyway.

I would go for new head gasket.  Pretty straight forward, and you know the engine.
