Early W463 heater with A/C blower issues
The family's old 124 estate had blower issues, it only blasted away full pelt. That turned out to be the blower resistor. I now have the same issue with my early w463 with air con. My first question is where is the offending piece of electrical nonsense and obviously my second will be what is the dismantling process to replace it. I have found mention out there of the ease of the job but that example on E500board (Replacing G320 (W463) Blower Motor Regulator) the resistor was in the air intake box........so very easy to get to under the bonnet.
Any guidance appreciated. I'm sure the wisdom shared here may help others thus plighted in the future too.
Do you have aircon or do you just mean the fan blower?
If it's the fan then, from my understanding, it's a really really horrible job. My fan (1991 463 G300 SWB no air-con) only runs on two speeds (2 and 4). I enquired and read up about getting it fixed but my understanding is that it's a one or two day job and involves taking out the dash and loads of other stuff behind that just to gain access. Can't remember who but someone told me to budget £1,000 to have the job done - and that was a couple of years ago.
In the end I gave up thinking about it - If I tried myself then I'd be bound to finish the job with lots of bits left over.
Any electricians out there? As the full speed works can't we just replace the existing switch with a fully variable switch with built in regulator feeding the full speed fan that would thereby give us a variable speed fan? Seems so obvious to me.

My dash has a A/C cold knob and a re-circulating switch which closes the air intake flap. I believe the fan speed is governed by the temp of the air it pushes hence an aluminum porcupine electronic block is in there somewhere.
