Dog guard and gun rack for 463
I asked at my local main stealer for a dog guard, apparently NLA, so I googled it, there seems a after market option option available on e bay USA and it's made in Italy, but I wondered if MB sold one in the UK and if so does anyone have the part number or one for sale, i do not have a accessories brochure so i do not know if it was even a available option.
I also came across a 4 gun rack that held 4 guns upright for a 460 on a Polish website, but it did not identify where it would fit so I left it, any clues? I doubt it would feature on a UK brochure but if anyone can help?
For the Gun rack, I decided on this instead...
Its custom made, and fits between the wheel arches, so no lateral movement when cornering. Its a three tier case (Pistols in the lid, rifle 1 in the middle tier and rifle 2 in the bottom, made in 'Land Rover' Checker plate aluminum, with dense foam padding, and has wheels and handles for transporting. I have dropped it down the stairs at home and all rifles and pistols were OK, big chunk out of the wall though and a very unhappy wife. Meh!
I did look at racks, however the police are not that excited about them being on show and also you DO have to notify your insurance company (or at least I did) if it is an open type. I did look at the military sites, as there are some great racks that go down the side, however if you have the jump seats you have to put them up by the rear windows, which puts them on show, as it were and they are expensive - could have got two of the cases made for the cost of a 2 rifle stack!
Though I will say the boot of the G gives a great surface to clean and rest the weapons in between the shoot :)

Try the link provided; the web site was extremely slow for me so unable to look the page of interest for you. G-Wagen stuff is quite a few pages down.

Blimey Spider1V - must remember never to cut you up at a roundabout!!!!!!!!!
yes those 6mm plastic balls hitting you at 350 feet per second bloody hurt at close range....lol
dont know about the 463 but my 460 had a factory fitted dog guard when new
from floor to the roof box section frame with wire mesh attached to the rear folding seat catch with some bolts and spacers
cant see why it would not fit a 463 dont know how i still have the bolts and spacers but have lost the dog guard

It should not cost the earth to have an engineering company in your locality to fabricate one.
IMO this would not be easy if you want it to look original
box section is hard to bend without a collapse of the inside wall
and it will have to go round the rear wheel arch in all 8off 90deg tight bends
Further question on the gun rack options, does anyone have a line on a military gun rack. I've seen the Canadian ones here and there not an option as impractical. Has anyone seen Brit ones or some other countries?
Thankfully, Britain does not have an open gun culture hence these accessories are not ordinarily in the public domain. I am not claim these cannot be got here, they can, but the tendency is for the guns to be clandestinely carried and, or stored in vehicles.

Such as the above example:
Visible carriers are very rare and maybe vehicles that remain on Estates sites or grounds may have them but I have never seen them in public or dare I say to the few Country and Estates shows I have attended.
the only gun rack i know of is the ORIGINAL MILITARY G ONE for a W461
What a fascinating thread! I have an ORC rear shelf that when fitted close the back door provided most excellent concealment and security and held guns and cartridges very nicely. You sacrifice head room which makes the jump seats suitable only for Hottentots. It is for sale if anyone is interested. I might even have a photo of it fitted to Tim Carnell's old green 463 (complete with LPG gas tanks so no jump seat problem)
I also have military weapon mounts for pistols and longs. The length is adjustable and there is a lockable version. They are used by Scandinavian army units. UK MoD think they know better - they don't. I have some in stock. Let me know it you would like images.
And when you are all "tooled up", fit a tracker to your mobile armoury. We sell those too - at cost to GWOA members!
Spider - nice trunk. When is the war starting, or are you off to Syria?
Thank you for your replies, your rifle case looks very well made Spider and a good idea,I think I may go down a lockable cabinet, perhaps with a drawer for cartridges and other bits that can be attached securely to the floor.
It would be good if I can find one that holds two O/U,s and can be removed when the full boot space is required, several types seem to be available for RRovers at eye watering prices! Surprisingly the G wagon is quite narrow in the boot floor area, so a custom fabrication is looking likely.
The Orc De site is very interesting thank you Pistonhead, there seems so much to look at,the dog guards are on there but can't imagine the postage cost, was a dog guard ever available in the UK as I keep looking on the Internet but am yet to see one?
Thanks again for the input.
