Fellow N.I. G Driver.

Hi,

Can't help with the history of your G, just glad to see a posting from someone this side of the Irish Sea!

Brought my 1989 G300D home a few weeks back and am thrilled with it.

i'll look out for you on the roads.

Cheers

Hi Martin !!!

You and I seem to be some of the only owners around the North, but in the last day or two I have spotted 2 white LWB crusing about (different locations!!!!) around the Ards area (Im from Kircubbin), so good to see a few more on the road  . My G280 is still in the workshop with the engine out ( full rebuild, re-bored,re-lined, skimmed head......the works!!!!, and add a full body restoration and re-spray (silver) to all of that.... but she's gona look mean!!!!!! my reg now is OJI 55. Im in Belfast quite often so might see u around!!!!!!

thanks for reply

Hi Henry,

Sounds like a major project you are undertaking. I'm sure it will be worth it when its finished.

Noticed you posted for "Running boards". Any luck?

Lookng for a set also, my 2 daughters can hardly climb in!!

Got an horrendous quote from Caversham. Might try Gareth at Agnews.

Cheers.

P.S. My G is Anthracite Grey, reg is quite nice G300 RTY.

Running Boards

I have tried a few different suppliers, seems very difficult to source any decent ones for the G, try a few of the 4x4 accessory sites, speak later

any help please

Yes Lads,
Just in Donegal here and was looking a G-Wagens,, think they are cool and different but have no experience in them at all,, dont want one for Work or anything,,

Saw a few in Autotrader in England at about 2000 pounds, but they were around 1986 which is Old,, Would something this old give me real bother later?

Are they expensive to run, comfortable,,slow

Any advice at all you can give me would be great,,

N.I. "G"s

We live near Ballymoney, own white LWB, ( and red SWB not on road at present), have also seen locally recently (i) another white LWB,(ii) a silvery grey LWB I think and(iii) a beige/brown SWB in Coleraine.
Marcus
PS --- Re enquirery about running boards I was advised to make them up , can buy alum extrusion c/w end trims etc, only require to fabricate suitable brackets back to chassis.

Engine rebuild

Paddywagen
Are you fitting the high compression pistons from the cars to your new engine . You get 9:1 comp ratio and about an extra 30 HP over the original engine. No extra cost if you're buying new pistons anyway.

Hi Guys!

Sorry, I aint been posting lately, been too busy posing about in my G since I got it finished!!!!, had a few minor probs before MOTbut all sorted now (except need new leads and distrbutor cap.. I think....) but is looking mean with colour coded bumpers (all silver), wheel spacers and tinted windows etc, Im from Kircubbin Co.Down and in belfast most weeks daily so Ill keep my eyes peeled for any of you guys, thanks for the info on the side bars, still looking into that at present. My Mechanic told me my engine had been fitted with new pistons sometime in the past (very poorley done by the way!!!) so we had a total engine rebuild (relined block, skimmed head and so on) and its now like new, wish I could post a few pics here, if anyone wants to see the finished product give me your e-mail and I'll send a few shots ........shit....sounds a bit trainspotterish!!!!!!!!!
Cheers for now
