Diesel injector chuff OM603
Have you got an injector socket , 27mm, long to fit over injector? It might be a new washer ( heat shield) cures it. Injector could be faulty , you could swap it with another injector from easy to reach one, no2. ? If sound moves to other replacement injector /cylinder , injector at fault. Or could be loose heat shield, need special splined socket to tighten, Happened a few times with mine, twice noise just disappeared with time and carbon I think. Once injector had given up the ghost. Either way not the big problem associated with modern diesels
I have a full reconditioned cylinder head if things go bad
Many injectors too
The injectors dont usually leak, but as well as the sealing washers some have shims that can go bad
Check them all while you are there and fit some new crush washers that fit under injector. Dont put them in upside down as they fit one way only
Make sure leak is from base of seat not where injector screws together itself
I have never seen any leak from standard and its usually due to people removing them for a rebuild and not tightening them up correctly, or carbon in cylinder head threads and it seems tight but is not seated
