Can anyone in the club provide information- preferably from direct experience on -
DIESEL COVERSION EARLY 80s - Mid 80s " G "s. :?:

I have a superb -123 Series 300 D Five Cylinder Engine & Auto Box (reconditioned)
available.I am interested to find out whether or not this unit will do a " straight - transfer"
into a long wheel base " G " I have access to a prospective petrol vehicle - but am
avoiding purchase until I am certain regarding the projects feasibility.
(N.B. -Should I decide not to go ahead - then the above Engine & Box will be available
- presently in a 123 Estate for sale to any other Club member - price open to negotiation)

DIESEL - CONVERSION

I am sure that the engine would fit in the G OK as the diesel was fitted into the G in the factory. It probably would not be worth it financially though as you can buy a 300 gd 85 for very little money all ready if that is what you want. You could swap the 123 engine into that or sell the engine and put the money into the G on other improvements. There would be quite a few little items that would be required due to change of fuel type, they would cost plenty from MB

Of course if the 280 is in great condition and you got it cheap it might stack up.
