Correct wiper blades??

Just about to order some new wiper blades - which I thought was going to be easy but all the websites I looked at say I should use 16" blades.

I measured those currently on the G and they are 18"

So which is correct?

And left hand side and right hand side seem to be different (when ordering) so which is correct one for the rear window.

Was happy to order Bosche - but are they the best?

Any guidance much appreciated - as always.

Hi Mark I'm on a 460 - but unless they have done something I'm not aware of with the wiper arm :-) mine are listed as 15inch, but I put 16inch on as the screen can take it (occasionally run onto the drivers side (not top) rubber depending on how the random sweep action is feeling. I even put some of those next generation 'flat' ones on but have reverted to tried and tested Bosch ones now - though they are getting hard to find. I would have thought 18inch would foul the top rubber, never mind the side on? Ta Simon PS : I checked mine at Halfords on their index card system thingy.

for the 463, you should have 16" blades on the front wipers and a single 15" on the rear.

I think Bosch are by far the best. Sometimes, you can find an "S" set of two for the front, where the driver's side wiper has a spoiler on it to help when moving at speed, but it's not a big deal. Michelin also make/market wipers now and these have a profiled plastic frame  which you may prefer the look of.

Any one have any comments on the new type single wiper blades that are now appearing on Merc's? Will need to re[place mine soon, and would like some feed back.

The original W460 wiper blades have usually been around 15.5" from factory but these sizes are not available after market and usually fittings have been either 16" or 15". These sizes have been for the front and rear screens. In the W463 I have found in some models from factory; the drivers side front screen being 16" and the passenger side 15" with the rear screen always being 15". 

Fit in between these sizes; if it works, your fine. It is obviously awkward buying two different sizes so most people choose to fit one size as the set as it can be is slightly cheaper to buy rather than two different sizes. Be careful, I have a feeling two 16" in the front is very close and the wiper could foul with each other particularly at the higher wiping speed. 

As to going to the flat wiper - go for it, you should not be disappointed.
