Exciting news for G lovers? MB Marketing are providing a G-Class Private Lounge for owners....
You will need to sign-up with a Mercedes ME ID, and apart from articles and events news they are collecting VIN Numbers, if you choose to provide. I think this could be a general MB survey of ownership/models/status out there. (probably who to target for new G-Class sales, if we're honest). Since it says it opens on 24th, adding the VIN will give access to (another) Forum. Hopefully this will complement GWOA and will also result in more awareness for us (also good). Check it out.

Registered members (free and non-binding) get access to great stories around the off-road icon, first-class bonus material and exciting features. There are exclusive specials such as unique photo presets, strong wallpaper and poster as well as original G-Class ringtones for smartphones. You will also learn about current news and new products and we would like to give you exclusive insights from our company.
G-Class owners can store their vehicle identification number in their profile and thus have access to the forum in which they can meet and exchange. G-Class experts are also available to answer this question. They share their insider knowledge and help. Well - all registered. No sign of a Forum appearing today (24th) but there is a giveaway 'Stronger than Time' book, for the first 500 to register, if you are OK with handing over your full details.
Registering the VIN turns out to be painful and manual - not managed to get even one of my 3 on there. A nice collection of videos and press material though.
Well the Forum appeared. And VIN numbers are validated manually.
It will be very interesting to see what response the 'Lounge' gets from the G Community. It's quite a diverse audience from the 460 to 463b models.
I think it is good to see MB supporting the G and providing this service. But lets see how much moderation there is and how much MB input/answers they provide.

Totally agree. New Forums always take a bit of settling. It seems a bit slow going from page to page, but creating a topic/thread is quicker than here! There are already a few sub-forums there, and I think they may need more to cover questions for help related to differing areas. But not so granular that you can't easily see which topic you need!
Being 'corporate' the moderation might be a bit PC.

I have put them to the test with an issue I have with Mercedes of Chelsea and some history for the G55. It will be interesting to what happens and how quickly
It is much more iPad friendly than here I'm afraid to say. Every time I try and create another paragraph the cursor jumps to the beginninng of the top line!
Yes I know I have a bit of a problem with v8's! If one pops up and it looks good then I can't seem to hold back.

Yep. Then you may get notifications from the 'AMG' Private lounge. There are a few errors to iron out. It's looking like a place to at least have some direct MB responses, albeit marketing ones.
OK, VIN approved, I believe I'm in but no confirmation as to whether I qualify for the book or not! I'll take a proper look later today.

Not looking likely for me that one due to summer plans. Have responded to the new thread now so will continue over there.
Update on the MB G Private Lounge....
It's settling. But really not that much interaction. Attempts by MB admin to keep it rolling are helping but very superficial in content and just a little tame.
But take a look. I wonder if the first 500 sign-ups has been achieved. Still waiting to see if that results in a souvenir coffee table book.

He did this on the G-Class Private Lounge. But that's OK. We just jump on the idea, and add it as a GWOA meet 'as well'... although its actually a MB Club regular thing. We can be the G contingent. I've been and the Cafe food is worth the trip.
