Do you know of any decent models for sale in Ireland at present?

Any Irish G-Wagen owners here??

:P

Hi,

I'm in Belfast and 38yrs old. Currently paying £581 fully comp - for my 1989 300GD LWB. I don't think that is too bad, but will be looking into classic insurance, come renewal. As for Tax, the full rate payable on my model £160 p.a.

Good luck on your search, they are a rare breed this side of the Irish Sea!!

G's in Ireland

As with everything in Ireland it is expensive. The initial cost depends on whether you buy an 80's model or the later 90's. You'll probably have to buy in England as there are very few here and are hard to come by. When you import you have the vehicle import tax which could be circa £1,000.

Then road tax will be the same as any other 2 ltr... probably about £800 per year and then insurance. In Ireland the cost of insurance is crazy. You'll see the English with their £300 or whatever. You can add a lot more. Currently if you get insurance, depending on your age, at less than £1,500 you're doing well.

Is it worth it. Well I for one think so. No, I don't like paying tax etc but that is the same with most cars you'll acquire in Ireland. Remember that it is illegal to drive an imported car unless duty has been paid. If you do so then both the seller and buyer are liable to prosecution.

Go buy a G. Have you ever driven one? They're awsome. Good Luck.
