Has anyone fitted a reversing assist (camera) to their 460?

I was entertaining the idea while I was fiddling (unsuccessfully) trying to get my radio to make noise. Looking around the rear of the vehicle for a suitable spot to locate a camera which would not lose 50%+ of it's viewable area to the spare. Seemed then that below the spare somewhere? In the base of the door? Below the door?

Has anyone had success with this? If so - where did it end up getting located?

Re: 460 reversing assist

Hi there Ynot,

I had one fitted on my 463 with the camera at the top centre of the number plate. 12mm hole I think.....gave a good color image and was only about £40 off eBay.

463 now replaced with LWB but I think I would go for a larger screen if I bought another camera....42 inch Ynot.wink

Good luck.

Tim

Thanks for the response Tim. If my number plate wasn't off centre, I think I'd have a go at that. Fact is - I know I've seen a camera incorporated into a third breaklight. Fitted "outside" of the vehicle, they're a dime a dozen. But I know I've seen an inside fitting - somewhere...

If you fit a reverse camera below the spare wheel or at the lower door it may well be prone to road dirt and grime, G Wagen Accessories offer a reverse camera on their website. The best option for me is check your mirrors and turn your head occasionally, its more cost effective and reliable.

Kevin,

I found mine really useful when connecting the trailer up.....having said that if you've got a long neck you might not need one :-)

a really helpful piece of advice from a gwoa regional  rep.  to a gwoa member asking for advice on asking about installing a rear view camera to help with parking .laugh quality - worth £25 on its own ..
