That is a lovely looking car in the classic colour combo but that is a punchy asking price even with the number plate
Why no pictures of the engine and bay? I know what a diff lock switch looks like but would quite like to see the engine..

That's not very girly Caroline

I think that was owned by a guy who had his own engineering business, and was very anal about his car, if so, that car has been more than looked after and no expense spared
Given that so many pictures are included, one of the engine would have been useful, as mentioned above.iIt does, however, look to be in top condition. If RHD is a must, then I suppose one has to consider these kind of prices for a good used one, but its more than I paid for my 1996 one when it was only a 6-month old dealer 'demonstrator' . A nice, 2004, 270 Cdi with 45k miles, sold a month or so ago for £22k. but LHD. For the money, I would have had the latter.
Been to look at this for another GWOA member....
Nice original truck...
Probably sold now for close to asking price for a Bling to 2014 spec and sweet 22" rims ;)
This is what you get nowadays for your £23.5k
Not of my money anyway..... not even £13.5k maybe not even £10k?
Rust showing on many seams, everything underneath leaks....and it wouldn't start when warm...
Hmmmmm, plenty of interest in the shiny paint and clean interior though, so he will get his money!

well inspected gav ! underneath is a bit in need of attention. they should have been attended to before going on the market.
nice G...but its not a G300. [mine is a G300] this is merely a 300GEL. theres a difference..;)
i reckon mine must be worth 27k then...

a finely polished thing /sadly heading for a massive load of repairs .
rotted spring platforms and shock mounts always seem to also go hand in hand with rotten brake pipes/fuel lines/fuel tank straps just waiting to drop your expensive plastic tank onto the road.
i personally feel gavs valuation is very kind and realistic.
i would and have already advised one would be buyer not to bother.

What is the difference between a G300 and a 300 GEL?
Good work by Sherlock of the Yard :-)
...and still no pictures of the engine !
To answer the above question, some time in 1995 / 1996 MB changed its vehicle nomenclature system to show the model type first, followed by the model number
There are however very small difference in some of the interior trim, like for example, the very front of the dash, close to the windscreen has a cover-strip that hides the screws / caps and the tendency to have bur walnut rather than zebrano wood trim etc. The steering wheel is of a newer design, like in the G-Pur and has an airbag, In the engine bay, the ABS block is also updated as well as some other minor things. Cruise control becomes standard as well as sliding rear windows on the SWB (I think?) . The radio antenna is now incorporated into the side glass - no longer a pop-up one on the front wing... ...the standard cloth trim is of a new design in black, as used up to about 2004 on the G270 etc.
It seems to me however, that the chassis on the early 1990's Gs (1990 -1993) may be a little better protected than on the the later ones, just going by ones I've seen over the years. Perhaps the paint changed? I don't know?
Good Picts Gav, Never seen a Transfer Box leaking? Or a rusty prop, has it been steam cleaned?
I suppose on the plus side , should be grateful no one has plastered it in black Waxoyl hiding a multitude of sins
Thanks Arnie,
My 5/1994 G300 has all of these subtle changes apart from the cruise control and aerial and the build quality seemed a lot better than my 1991 W463.
I'm sure that Sherlock Helme or Roly may have other info on the G300 differences.
Thanks Tim
And this is what its all about - a call goes out and loads of information, experience and even a visit come in! Nice write up Gav and picture too.
