I've been tracking Electric 4x4s (mainly awaiting the EQG to see if remotely affordable)

I also liked the look of the Grenadier as a utility 4x4 replacement forthe Defender.

And I just saw this Munro M1 prototype 4x4 EV.

Boxy. Definitely ugly. Certainly utilitarian.  So far so good!

But it also looks very rough and only one motor (EQG is getting 4) so the power will be low in return for range. I think 2 motors would be a better compromise.

Seems like they saw the slow progress with Bombardier, which is also not made in the UK, and decided to fill that gap.  But it looks like a TVR/Kit car type manufacturing model.

I also think a true 4x4 needs at least a get you home motor - no recovery vehicle will come and get you in the middle of a forest. So a hybrid might offer more assurance.  That said, running out of battery is just one of many failures that can get you stuck, so perhaps not fixate on that.  Its a bit like the argument that modern Gs have too much electronics - it doesn't mean those are the things that will get you stranded.  A mechanical failure is just as likely.  Portable generators are also not that big these days to stick in the back!!  Solar panel on the roof another option - camp out while you get juice.
